My name is AYODEJI TOLULOPE JOSEPH, I am from Nigeria. I had my bachelor's degree in Geology from University of Ilorin, Nigeria. My bachelor's degree thesis was focused on analyzing surface and ground water samples for their hydro-chemical properties to determine their suitability for domestic and agricultural purposes.
I am interested in working with sediment cores by using physical and chemical properties of the sediment to reconstruct the paleoenvironment.
I am a self motivated individual with great collaborative spirit.
I love participating in field trips, hiking in nature, and a huge fan of football. In my free time I love listening to music.

Reconstructing the Holocene environmental conditions in the central Aleutian archipelago
Lacustrine sediment cores from Adak Island, located in the Aleutian archipelago of Alaska, provide a valuable archive for reconstructing past environmental and climatic conditions throughout the Holocene. This study examines sedimentary sequences using a multi-proxy approach, including elemental geochemistry (XRF scanning) and grain size analysis, framed by radiocarbon dating and existing regional tephrochronology. These records capture changes in sediment supply, volcanic inputs, and catchment processes, offering insights into the island’s evolving landscape in response to climatic shifts and volcanic activity over the past ~10,000 years.
The integration of geochemical signatures and sedimentological characteristics allows for the reconstruction of paleoenvironmental dynamics in this climatically sensitive North Pacific region.
